Yanni Spiro
Co-Founder CLRT
Senior Individual and Couple Psychotherapist (MBACP)
Former Honorary Teaching Fellow (Birkbeck)
In my work with couples, my patient is the relationship. I listen carefully to each partner and to the exchanges between them, drawing on my training and years of clinical experience to understand what is being communicated, including what remains unspoken. I offer reflections and gently challenge assumptions partners may have come to hold about themselves or one another.
I help partners explore connections between their earlier experiences and their relationship today, recognising how expectations, fears and reactions can develop without either person being fully aware of them. This work can make recurring patterns more understandable and give couples greater choice in how they relate to one another.
I trained at Tavistock Relationships, where I went on to work as a clinician and teach clinical skills to trainee therapists. I have worked in private practice for over a decade and have also completed training in somatic trauma therapy with Babette Rothschild.
I am co-founder of Central London Relationship Therapy and offer short and long term therapy to individuals and couples, both in person and online. I welcome clients from a wide range of cultural, religious and social backgrounds, and have extensive experience working with LGBTQ+ clients.
For those attending individually, our work offers room to explore personal difficulties and relationships, including questions that may feel hard to discuss elsewhere.
